A Work per Day: The Dead Zone

© Copyright to CBS. 2002. All rights reserved.
Many people asked me if Sean had already acted as a villain. The answer was yes, of course; and one of these villains is Gregory Ammas Stillson, as known as Greg Stillson from The Dead Zone series, based on Stephen King's novel.

Data:

Name: The Dead Zone
Name (Brazilian Portuguese): A Zona Morta/The Dead Zone
Release Date: June 16, 2002
Format: TV Show
Creator: Michael Piller and Shawn Piller
Based on: Stephen King's novel, The Dead Zone
Cast: Anthony Michael Hall (Johnny Smith), Nicole de Boer (Sarah Bracknell Bannerman), Chris Bruno (Sheriff Walt Bannerman), John L. Adams (Bruce Lewis), David Ogden Stiers (Reverend Eugene 'Gene' Purdy), Sean Patrick Flanery (Gregory Ammas Stillson)
Tagline: You should see what he sees.
Network: CBS
Timeline: 1976-2007

The Dead Zone is a story about a man who accidently received the power of the visions when he touches anyone. Johnny Smith meets Greg Stillson, a politician, and as he touches the candidate, he sees the Armageddon. Now Johnny wants to stop Stillson to be senator and, then, president before it's too late. Also, Johnny is connected to Greg since their childhood.

The TV Show doesn't focus a lot on Greg's character; that's because of the number of episodes. But it always shows the viewer Greg is the the main villain of the series. Many people believed Greg was controlled by his father, then Malcolm Janus, but in the end he was just using them to achieve his goals.

The series doesn't have an ending due to the weak audience in the last season. Stillson finishes the series as the Vice President, but the novel ending never happened (President Stillson uses a child in order to protect himself from Johnny's rifle and he loses the Presidency because of that).

Trivia:
  • Chris Bruno (Walt Bannerman) is a close friend of Sean Patrick Flanery. Both directed Flanery's alter ego, Devlin Dubois, series called Devlin Made Me Do It! and the movie No Game.
  • Sean uses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves in the series.
  • One of Sean's habits is in the TV series: he uses watches with the clock itself on his pulse, not above it as people usually do. You can see this habit in other movies and TV shows.

Opinion by a Fan: Saw 3D

We are going to start a new topic called Opinion by a Fan. Jessica Storrer will give her opinion about some Sean movies and TV shows. Today's movie is Saw 3D.

SAW 3D

As a ‘Saw-movies’ sick lover, it was a HUGE surprise to me to see Sean Patrick Flanery starring as the main character from SAW 3D. He plays Bobby Dagen, a man who, with some people help, pretends to be a victim of one of Jigsaw’s games to be famous and get money.

At first, everything seems to be ok, lots of people are buying the book, he appears in TV shows, makes book signatures, summarizing, all he needs to grow according to his and his friends' plans.

Something else that makes us take his side is his innocent wife. She has no ideia about his lies and we can see that she really loves him. At first you can’t get what he feels about her, but in the end, you can say for sure that it’s a real feeling

The way Sean plays Bobby makes us think about how wrong is to lie, if you aren't hurting anyone. He isn't a bad guy, but he’s doing something so wrong that catches the viewer's attention: we do want him to be punished, but we also feel sorry for him.

At some point he receives an unexpected “fan”: Jigsaw himself. Bobby doesn’t know who he is, but he knows this guy is dangerous and that something isn't ok. He receives a kind of warning, but he has no idea what is going to happen.

As a moral lesson, Bobby and all the ones involved in this huge lie are confined in a real Saw game. He's the one who has to save the others. While he tries to set people free from the gadgets, he keeps receiving televison images of his wife in the last gadget (he’ll be only able to find her after releasing the first ones).

As he sees he’s not able to save them, he gets more and more frustrated and mad at himself. He needs to help them, but the more he tries, the less he does.

A lot happens while he's in the middle of this horror journey; Thar can confuse some viewers who aren't that involved with the whole story.

This is the seventh Saw movie, and the critics say this isn't the best one, but, for sure, the movie is a remarkable one for everyone who enjoys blood, screams and a very handsome actor.

Devlin Dubois: Sean Flanery's Alter Ego

Copyright to Sean Patrick Flanery
Yesterday I was just going to bed when Devlin Dubois tweeted. He's a very funny, cynical and he likes to confront Sean. Both had a little fight on Twitter last night and none wanted to lose. It was really interesting.

Everybody has an alter ego. But what is an alter ego anyway? Psychology explains that it is another self. There are people even with more than four alter egos! Myself has one, and he is a man. But let's forget me and talk about Sean's alter ego, Devlin Dubois.

Devlin seems to be Sean's number 1 rival. He's much older than Sean. Both are Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, but Devlin knows Judo too (according to Twitter's little "fight" yesterday, he's training American Judokas to the Olympic Games in London). Still, Sean is black belt in Karate. Devlin is also a womanizer, enjoys company of pretty women. He likes to flirt a lot. An idea to catch Devlin's attention: Be a beautiful woman. Ha!

The guy has a strong Texan accent even when he writes. Sean made a reference from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction last night as Devlin tweeted: English. Do you speak it? - That's because of Devlin's way to write.

Here is a video with Devlin for you to know him better:
People say this video is from 1982 (?), hahaha!

What made me write this post is because I could see myself as Sean/Devlin. Let me explain: I also have an alter ego and I like to show everyone about it (although I won't say who he is). And Sean and Devlin fighting last night was the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life. No kidding! Both make me laugh a lot. I'm very happy Devlin exists. I wonder if he's going to show up on Brazilian Twempirians' group one day to tell us he's better than Sean hahaha! And Sean won't make it easy, of course!

Devlin Dubois = Genius created by another genius

A Work per Day: The Boondock Saints

One of his best works. Because of Connor MacManus, Sean has a lot of fans. Many fans consider this movie the best one Sean has already acted.

Data:

Name: The Boondock Saints
Name (Brazilian Portuguese): Santos Justiceiros
Release Date: August 4, 1999 (Germany)
Format: Movie
Director: Troy Duffy
Cast: Willem Dafoe (FBI Agent Paul Smecker), Sean Patrick Flanery (Connor MacManus), Norman Reedus (Murphy MacManus), David Della Rocco (Rocco 'The Funny Man'), Billy Connolly (Noah 'Il Duce' MacManus).
Tagline: Thy Kingdom Come. Thy Will Be Done.
Timeline: 1999

The Boondock Saints is about two Irish brothers who believe they received a message from God to kill all bad men. Meanwhile, FBI agent Paul Smecker tries to find out who is doing the murders, but part of him believes they are right.

Connor MacManus' Traits: Connor is the one who elaborates the plans. He had the idea to kill the Mafia men listening to a Russian pager. Connor is fan of Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson (like Sean Patrick Flanery himself) and always gets a rope because of their movies. He is the "Son" of MacManus family (Noah is the 'Father' and Murphy, the 'Holy Spirit').

Trivia:
  • Connor's tattoo is VERITAS (Truth). Sean has character named Veritas, a hero who can find out who is lying and he is the hero of Truth.
  • Connor and his brother use suppressed Beretta 92f pistols.
  • Connor has 3 visible tattoos.
  • His mother, in a deleted scene, said to both MacManus brothers who came out first had the bigger penis. Actor Norman Reedus (Murphy) admitted Sean had the bigger one. However, no one knows who is the oldest brother (only Troy Duffy, probably).
