The Dead Zone is a story about a man who accidently received the power of the visions when he touches anyone. Johnny Smith meets Greg Stillson, a politician, and as he touches the candidate, he sees the Armageddon. Now Johnny wants to stop Stillson to be senator and, then, president before it's too late. Also, Johnny is connected to Greg since their childhood.

The TV Show doesn't focus a lot on Greg's character; that's because of the number of episodes. But it always shows the viewer Greg is the the main villain of the series. Many people believed Greg was controlled by his father, then Malcolm Janus, but in the end he was just using them to achieve his goals.

The series doesn't have an ending due to the weak audience in the last season. Stillson finishes the series as the Vice President, but the novel ending never happened (President Stillson uses a child in order to protect himself from Johnny's rifle and he loses the Presidency because of that).

Trivia:
  • Chris Bruno (Walt Bannerman) is a close friend of Sean Patrick Flanery. Both directed Flanery's alter ego, Devlin Dubois, series called Devlin Made Me Do It! and the movie No Game.
  • Sean uses Brazilian Jiu Jitsu moves in the series.
  • One of Sean's habits is in the TV series: he uses watches with the clock itself on his pulse, not above it as people usually do. You can see this habit in other movies and TV shows.
